*Editor's update at the end
So Saturday was a movie afternoon. My husband and I wanted to watch scary movies (maybe a really romantic movie too?) and I decided to prepare a special menu for the occasion.
- Halloween Tortilla Chips with Guacamole
- Creamy Chicken Rolls
- And some olives filled with ham, red wine
So first, I prepared some Halloween-shaped tortilla chips.. it's really easy.
All you need is tortillas (corn or wheat or both), cookie cutters and the microwave.
I got my Halloween cookie cutters -a grave, a haunted house, a ghost, a cat, a pumpkin and a bat- and the tortillas.
I cutted the tortillas with the cutters, just the same you would do if it was cookie dough.
Then I placed them in a microwavable plate, extended; not overlapping.
Then placed the plate in the microwave for 2 minutes on high. Then turned the chips over (the plate will be real hot, so do not touch it, or take it out with gloves) and now leave them for 1.5 minutes on high. They will be a little soft, but take them out and let them cool a little. Touching the cold air will make them hard and crunchy.
This pumpkin is made from wheat tortilla.
And this is how the chips look like.
I decided to make some guacamole. I just crushed the avocados, sprinkled some salt and pepper, and ready!
So I hope you enjoy this REALLY EASY recipe, yet original, don't you think?
We are having a Halloween party tomorrow, so last night my husband helped me cut a lot of tortilla chips!!
I still haven't decided if I should use the mocrowave or the oven. If you want to use the oven you can leave the tortilla chips there for 15 or 20 minutes at 180°C,
