I've been craving for Apple Pie for weeks, and finally, this past weekend was the perfect excuse to bake it. I don't wanted it so sweet, but like sweet-n-sour, and the taste was perfect!! I'm definitely baking this often, the hubs loved it (he H-A-T-E-S apple pie), granpa loved it, mom loved it, everyone did!
So here, I'm sharing you this special recipe:
- 6 apples, I used red delicious
- 2 tbsp all purpose flour
- 1 lemon's juice
- 3/4 cups sugar
- 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 box of pie crusts (you will need 2)
First, preheat oven to 425°F abd unwrap the pie crusts and let them sit in the counter. Peel the apples and cut them in very thin slices.
Place them in a deep mixing bowl.
Add cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, sugar, lemon juice, and salt.
Stir until well blended.
Place one of the pie crusts in a pie pan.
Place the apples mix on top and distribute evenly.
Now, the other crust. Cut evenly into 10 stripes. Place five stripes on top of the filling.
Now, bend every other stripe, half way of the pie, and place another stripe perpendicular.
Continue doing this, as shown in the figures.
Trim the edges of the stripes and seal the edges with your fingers by squeezing.
Bake for 15 minutes and remove.
Cover the edges with tin foil to prevent burning of the crust.
Bake for 25 more minutes.
Et, voilà!
Enjoy!!
